Kelly Melius

Kelly Melius is a lifelong resident of Faulk County.  He grew up on a family farm here and after college returned to the farm.  He and his family live on the farmstead he grew up on, and he has started and is the owner of an area business, Common Sense Manufacturing. He has been involved in economic development not only as a farmer and business owner, but also was selected as a 2012 Fellow in the Dakota Rising program.  The Dakota Rising program is for entrepreneurs who are committed to growing themselves professionally, their businesses, and the greater community. After completing his three year commitment to being a Dakota Rising fellow, he has continued his involvement by volunteering as a mentor for this entrepreneur program.  Being involved with Dakota Rising, his vision and understanding of the benefits and necessity of being involved in making a community thrive became apparent, not just from a business perspective, but from a broader community perspective.  Having several employees and a family living here, he has a vested interested in the continued economic development for our area and would like to be involved by actively providing input and his perspective on community development in order to continue to see the Faulkton area thrive.
